Cover of practical diagnostic no. 01 “How does AI describe your hotel?” with a comparison grid of facts and sources

What it is for

Travellers now ask AI assistants for hotel advice. The assistants build their answers from what the web says about your hotel. This check shows what the web says, where it is wrong, and what the assistants answer today.

It needs no software and no budget. Your revenue, e-commerce or marketing team can run it, or your agency. Everything happens in one workbook.

For
General managers, revenue and marketing teams, and the agencies that work for them.
Size
Quick check: 12 facts, about half a day. Full check: 23 facts plus your own, about two days. Most hotels should start with the quick check and stop there until it shows a reason to go further.
Result
Tab 5 of the workbook, one page: how many facts are confirmed, how often AI names your hotel, how often it names your main strength, where the big websites contradict your facts, and the first five problems to fix, each with an owner and a date.

How the check works

The five steps of the guide. The workbook takes you through each one; an invented example hotel shows what a completed run looks like.

  1. Write down what is trueStart with your own list of facts, signed off by the GM. Every later step compares against this list.

  2. Ask AI, without helpAsk AI about your hotel before anyone changes a listing: the same questions, three times each.

  3. Compare the websitesCheck each website against your list. The differences often explain what AI said in step 2.

  4. Sort the problemsFix first what could change a booking.

  5. Repeat and compareAsk the same questions again: once as a baseline, then every quarter and after big changes.

What the check does not do

The result shows counts only. The method is good at finding problems and too rough for a score.

The guide states: “We found no study showing that cleaner listings make AI recommend a hotel more often.” So treat any change in AI answers as something you watch and test.
